Possession Only Licence was available to people that already own there firearms, that did not plan to purchase or inherit any more firearms. Possession Only licence also allow you to:

The fee for the P.O.L. was reduced from $45.00 to $10.00 last June and was scheduled to rise to $60.00 on October 15, 2000. At a recent forum of Provincial Police Association it was strongly recommended, to extend the reduced to fee to December 31, 2000. The government has responded to this request and announcing that the fee will remain at $10.00 until December 31, 2000.
Firearms owners who plan to get the P.O.L. should apply immediately because as of January 1, 2001, P.O.L.'s will not be available to new applicant's.
Possession Only Licence must have applied before January 1, 2001 only, will be able to renew it every five years. If at any time you would like to up grade your licence to Possession Acquisition Firearms Licence you must successfully complete an Possession Acquisition Firearms Licence (P.A.L). training course or successfully challenge a government approved P.A.L. test.
